Writing Workshop: Birds and Other Beings: How Poetry Takes Flight
October 20, 2021 7:00 PM 8:30 PM Virtual / Livestream
Advance registration is required to receive the Zoom invite and link.
Birds are mythical, metaphorical, and in the yard. We are often in the presence of birds—and other creatures—in predawn hours, along a sidewalk or trail, on a lake as they migrate in spring or fall. Many beings both companion our lives and act as indicator species for what’s happening in our environment. How can writing about the creatures around us help our poetry take flight? In this workshop we will read selected poems in which birds and other animals play a part, from black-capped chickadees and magpies to foxes, rabbits, and toads. And then we’ll write. Your writing can take you in any direction. Instructor: Veronica Patterson
