Growing up in a loud and chaotic family, the only thing Kate Shelton could do for peace and quiet was to find some privacy behind a thick pair of glasses and the pages of a book. After graduating high school with a nerd designation, she attempted an engineering degree in college. When she failed to make it through calculus, Kate turned back to words. She got a very useful liberal arts degree from Colorado State University. A few years later, she earned a Master’s of Creative Writing from the University of Denver. Kate now works as a professional communicator but prefers dark humor and emojis to crisis comms.
Like many others, Kate found herself restless and anxious during the height of the pandemic and reading was simply no longer enough. Coupled with the loss of one of her best friends to colon cancer, Kate discovered the strength to start writing a novel and the pure insanity that made her brave enough to get it published. Kate lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with her husband and two (loud and wonderful) children. Find Kate at @katesheltonauthor on social media.
